PostgreSQL database now available with hosting plans

In keeping with our commitment to our customers today we announce the addition of the PostgreSQL database (version 9.1) to our family of services. It’s been requested many times from those who do not wish to use MySQL or simply have other database requirements. As a result we have worked very hard to get this feature out as quickly as we could.

From here on when purchasing a new hosting plan it will be possible to select which kind of database system you wish to use. If you really want you can have both MySQL and PostgreSQL running together under the same hosting plan, it’s entirely your choice. We have no wish to force a particular configuration onto our customers, Design Pixel is about choice.

Pricing is the same as with MySQL and in the standard offering you will be able to have a maximum of 5 PostgreSQL database schemas, this should be more than enough for the vast majority of our customers. However, as always, if you require a custom set-up make contact and we will do our best to help out.
